This project involved a contemporary rear addition and full kitchen renovation for a single-family home in Los Angeles. The homeowner wanted to expand the living area while maintaining a cohesive modern aesthetic. Our team navigated strict LA zoning setback requirements and coordinated closely with the local building department to ensure a smooth permit process from start to finish.

Our architects designed the addition to fit precisely within the allowable setback limits, maximizing usable floor area without triggering a variance request. We selected modern materials—standing-seam metal roofing and fiber-cement siding—that satisfied both the HOA design guidelines and the client's contemporary vision. Full-height sliding glass doors connect the new kitchen and living space to the backyard, creating an indoor-outdoor flow well suited to the Southern California climate.

The building permit was approved by the City of Los Angeles on the first submission, and construction was completed on schedule. The finished addition provided the homeowner with a spacious, modern living area and a fully renovated kitchen, significantly increasing the property's market value and everyday livability.
